In 1992 I won a place in the Contact Young Playwright’s Festival with my first completed writing project, Whoops! I’m a Linen Porter, a comedy based on my experience of working in a hotel.  The play was produced and performed at the Contact Theatre in Manchester.

In 1994 I completed my second writing project, Bellybutton Babies, a full-length screenplay.  I sold an option on this to Persona Film Development.

The connection with Persona led to my writing scripts for two animated children’s series, The Blobs and Fix & Foxi, for Siriol Multimedia.  The episode I wrote for Fix & Foxi was used by Siriol to represent them at an animation festival and also led to my being approached by Ravensburger who asked me to work with them directly on that series.  I wrote 13 episodes for series 1 and 8 episodes for series 2.

After teaching adults with a learning disability for 6 years I have recently decided to write full time.  I have completed my first novel, The monodreme, and a second full-length film script, Beggars Alive.  I am currently working on The Master Changes, an epic, genre-bending fantasy trilogy and am collaborating with a comicstrip illustrator on the graphic novel, What Happens....
